I’m New

Welcome to Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church (MDPC), located on the west side of Houston at the corner of Memorial Drive and Blalock. Our address is 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77024, and our telephone number is 713-782-1710.

We are a congregation of real live people who face real live problems with hope and joy because of the powerful presence of Jesus Christ in our lives. We have been drawn together into a caring family, and out of gratitude for all that Christ is doing for us, we seek to serve others.

In a city as large and diverse as Houston, we know you have many options for where you choose to worship. We’re honored that you’re considering MDPC, and excited to have you join us. Read on for information that will make your experience smooth and enjoyable. If we’ve left anything out, please let us know! We’ll answer your inquiry, and also update this page ASAP. If you have a question, someone else surely has it, too.

The Front Office is open Sunday mornings, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Call 713-782-1710 if you need additional directions, parking information, or have questions about the morning’s service.

About MDPC

Sunday Services

Services are offered at three times on Sunday mornings. The sermon message is the same, but the music and worship style are different. Click on the service for a description of what to expect.

8:30 AM, Chapel Blended

9:45 AM, Sanctuary Contemporary

11:15 AM, Sanctuary Traditional

Details about the upcoming Sunday Services, including the sermon title, scripture reference, who is preaching, and any changes in schedule, are on the homepage.

When you arrive at a service, you’ll receive a Sunday Worship Guide. It contains the Order of Worship for each service, information on upcoming events, and some additional information about MDPC and our partners. Take a few minutes to look it over. If you have questions or want to know more, visit the Connection Center in the Lobby.

Sit anywhere you like. If you arrive after a service starts, ushers at the doors of the Chapel or Sanctuary will direct you to available seating.

Campus Parking and Maps

All parking is onsite. Most parking is available in the large lot on the north side of the church. There is access from Blalock on the east, and from Memorial on the west.

Click here for a map from the parking areas to the Chapel (orange) and the Sanctuary (burgundy). Once inside the buildings, conveniently located directional signage will help get you to your destination. But if you need a hand, don’t hesitate to ask – MDPC folks are warm and friendly, and always ready to help!

Communion Sundays

MDPC celebrates the Lord’s Supper approximately every six weeks. All who confess their faith in Christ are welcome at the table! Communion is served by intiction, meaning that worshipers, when directed by the ushers, come forward to receive a piece of bread. Dip the bread in the wine before eating and returning to your seat.

What to Wear

You’ll see most people dressed in business to business-casual. Men wear everything from khakis and polo shirts to ties and jackets; ladies wear pants and flats to dresses and heels. Come in what you feel comfortable in – but, most importantly, come!

Children and Youth

Whether your baby is 12 weeks or in 12th grade, there’s something for them on Sunday mornings! Visit the Children’s Ministries and Youth Ministries pages for more detail.

Children’s Check-In

Safety is important to us, so all children fifth grade and younger must be checked in electronically. Check-In stations are located throughout the Ministry Center, but guests are encouraged to use the staffed Check-In by the Grand Staircase. After check-in, a volunteer will be show you to your child’s classroom.

Infants: Beginning at 12 weeks old, babies are looked after by the trained, loving staff in the Nursery. No reservation is needed.

Preschoolers: Children four and under enjoy crafts, Bible stories, games, and music at 9:45 AM, with a special preschool worship service offered at 11:15 AM. Preschoolers learn all about the elements of worship as they participate in music, prayer, an offering, and a Bible story. Children love fulfilling the roles of worship leader, choir member, candle lighter, ushers, and more.

Kindergarteners and Elementary-age Children: This age group attends The Galaxy, a fun and focused morning of large-group worship, then small-group fellowship, games, and activities.

Youth: Sixth through twelfth graders are encouraged to attend 9:45 AM Worship in the Sanctuary, then come over to the Youth Area (The Loft) for Sunday Classes (Connection) at 11:00 AM. Don’t know anyone? Don’t worry! Youth reps will be at the entrance to The Loft to show you where to go and introduce you around. Middle and High Schoolers meet separately for fellowship, worship, and learning, all guided by Youth leadership and staff.

In Addition to Worship..

Before or after Worship depending on the service you attend, we encourage you to explore one of the many Adult Studies offered on Sunday mornings. To help you find the class that is right for you, visit our Adult Class/Small Group Finder. Or, pick up a copy of Adult Studies at MDPC (available at the Front Office and the Connection Center in the Lobby) to see which class might be of interest.

All-Church Lunch is available on the first Sunday of most months (11:00 AM-1:00 PM, Fellowship Hall). “All-Church” because it’s open to everyone, not because it’s required. Click here for menu and price information.

Want to Learn More About MDPC

Dave’s Gathering is a casual meeting with either MDPC’s senior or executive pastor (both conveniently named Dave). These don’t occur every Sunday; check with Connection Center to find out when the next available date. You’ll learn about our vision, our unique founding principles, and our local and global outreach — and if you’re interested, how to become a member.

Again, if you have any questions about attending a service or any function at MDPC, please let us know! Contact Diann Turet: dturet@mdpc.org or 713-490-9553. We hope that when you arrive in worship with your heart and mind at peace, you can be attentive to God’s voice.
