Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in an informal, fun, and friendly environment.
WHAT HAPPENS AT ALPHA?
A typical evening consists of a meal, a short talk about the Christian faith, and small group discussion. Talks cover a range of topics including “Who is Jesus?” and “Why and how do I pray?” The videos share about the topic from the Christian faith. During the discussion time, guests are encouraged to share their honest thoughts on the topic and on how they experience and understand the world. The idea is to have open and honest discussion that encourages people from various backgrounds to share and explore their ideas together. No question or comment is out of bounds and guests are free to discuss as much or as little as they wish.
WHO IS ALPHA FOR?
Alpha is for everyone. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity, and everyone is welcome. Alpha is especially for people who would not call themselves Christians and for people who still have big questions about the Christian faith. Alpha is free, and we provide free childcare for those who need it.
HOW LONG IS ALPHA?
Alpha typically runs over 10 or 11 weeks and includes a weekend away. Guests are welcome to come to as many or as few weeks as they would like. Though, getting to know the group over the weeks is one of the best parts of Alpha. The weekend away is an opportunity to get away from the regular hustle and bustle, to enjoy getting to know your group better and to dig a little deeper into the topics that Alpha has been exploring so far. The weekend includes a few Alpha talks and groups similar to what we do on Alpha nights. The weekend includes plenty of down time to take walks, play games, hangout or just relax.
