Nursery and Preschool

Ark Adventures is our Sunday morning program for infants through pre-Kindergarten. All Ark Adventure classes use a faith-based curriculum that focuses on building the character of God into the lives of our children. Our program is designed to accommodate children who attend Sunday School for multiple hours while their parents worship one hour and serve or attend a class during another. Our Biblical lesson provides the foundation for the entire morning, but different activities and formats are utilized during each hour.

Nursery

Care is provided for infants, creepers, wobblers, and toddlers. Infants generally begin attending at 12 weeks of age, or when the parent and/or physician feels it is appropriate for the infant to be left. Children are placed in classes according to their age and development; therefore, nursery children may experience class adjustments as they develop throughout the year. Parents will be notified when a class change is necessary. Children who turned two years old after September 1 will remain in the nursery until the next program year.

Preschool / PreK

During both the 9:45 & 11:15 service hours, children attend Preschool Praise Time, gathering to experience the community of Christ through participation in interactive Bible stories, prayer, and worship. Back in their classrooms, children engage in age-appropriate activities complimenting the lesson, play time, and snack.

Elementary

The Galaxy is our Sunday School program for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. In the Galaxy, we utilize a gospel-centered curriculum, high-energy worship, exciting games, and guided small-group discussions to help children build a strong foundation of faith in Jesus.

Room 209: Kindergarten

Currently enrolled Kindergarten students will learn age-appropriate Bible lessons, sing worship songs, play, and create. 

The Galaxy: 1st-5th Grade

Elementary Sunday School: Children’s Sunday School is offered at 9:45am and 11:15am. Families are encouraged to worship together during one service hour and attend Sunday School during one service hour, but we acknowledge that option isn’t ideal for all families. Elementary aged children are welcome to attend Sunday School at both 9:45am and 11:15am, if that’s what works best for their family.

1 - 5 graders are dropped off in The Zone and picked up in their grade level classrooms. Room assignments are as follows:

1st Grade: Room 210
2nd Grade: Room 212
3rd Grade: Room 213
4th Grade: Room 214
5th Grade: Room 215

Kaleidoscope Special Needs Ministry

Kaleidoscope is our ministry supporting children with special needs and their families. Our mission is to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for children with special needs so that they and their families are able to grow in their faith in God while experiencing the redeeming love of Jesus Christ through education, fellowship, music, outreach, prayer, stewardship, and worship.

Sunday Mornings: 9:45 and 11:15am

Join us in room 208 for Bible stories, music and fun each Sunday morning. We also have buddies who would be happy to attend Children's Sunday School with your child. Stop by and let's chat about how we can best support your family!

Programs and Offerings

Connect with other families as the kids enjoy new friends and learn about God’s love! A few of Kaleidoscope's program offerings are:

We’re so thankful that you’re considering teaching in our preschool or elementary Sunday School! Our ministries depend on the time, heart, and commitment of volunteers like you. Serving with children is a beautiful response to God’s call, and we believe He will bless you deeply as you invest in the lives of these little ones. Thank you for being open to playing a meaningful role in what God is doing through MDPC Kids!

Sundays:
  • Galaxy Elementary Sunday School – Serve as a monthly grade-level leader or large-group Bible storyteller, guiding elementary kids through meaningful lessons about Jesus.
  • Ark Adventures Preschool Sunday School – Help preschoolers experience worship through engaging Bible stories, songs, and fun activities that reinforce the day's message.
  • Kaleidoscope – Support children with special needs through music, stories, and hands-on activities, or serve as a buddy alongside them in traditional classes.
  • Guest Check-In – Be a welcoming presence for new families by assisting with check-in and guiding them to their classrooms.
Wednesdays:

Blast Off – During the school year, lead 1st–5th graders in fun electives like cooking, crafts, and gym games, followed by dinner and Bible study.

Summer Events:

Summer Celebration (VBS) – Join us for a week of excitement where kids learn to SERVE, PRAY, and PLAY. Volunteers help make this the best week of summer!

Children's Choir

Music for children is taught in a fun, Christian environment with several opportunities throughout the year to sing in worship and present the gospel of Jesus Christ. The choir participates in worship services during the year, including the 4pm Christmas Eve service and the Easter Family Service.

Internships

Each summer, MDPC Children’s Ministries hires 4 interns to work along side our team as we minister to preschool and elementary aged children and their families. Interns play an important role in planning and implementing Children’s Ministries’ summer programming and the kids look forward to spending time with our awesome interns each summer!

The purpose of the Children’s Ministries Summer Internship program is as follows:

  • To provide an opportunity for learning, training, and discernment for future vocational and volunteer ministry with children and families
  • An opportunity to develop relationships with the MDPC children and families that impact their faith development and church experiences
