About

Welcome to Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church (MDPC), nestled in the heart of Memorial on the west side of Houston. Find us at the corner of Memorial Drive and Blalock. Our mission statement is: Loving God. Proclaiming Christ. Living Generously. Engaging All.

Our Story

In 1954, a handful of men and woman gathered together to prayerfully consider the possibility of a Presbyterian congregation in the Memorial Drive Area, west of Voss Road.  This group of Christ-followers, empowered by the Holy Spirit in faith, honesty, and courage became the seed group for the intergenerational and multi-cultural congregation (English, Spanish, Portuguese) that meets for worship, growth, and service on the corner of Memorial and Blalock.

As early as 1955, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church had the following as its core principles:

  1. Prayer-full • Every member prayed for every day
  2. Radically Generous • Supporting +150 Outreach Partners
  3. Great Commission • Matthew 28:18-20

Our Beliefs

Statement of Faith

This means that its theology is Reformed as expressed in the Essential Tenets and the Book of Confessions and its governance is Presbyterian – ruled by elders – as defined in the Polity and Discipline of ECO, all under the authority of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Holy Scriptures.

The ECO Essential Tenets and Confessions were adopted by the Session of Memorial Drive Presbyterian at its stated meeting on ________. These Tenets and Confessions can be read in their entirety by clicking here.

Denomination

MDPC Houston is affiliated with ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians, and as such is committed to being Reformed, Evangelical, and Egalitarian.

Our relationship with the denomination is expressed in our connection and participation in ECO’s local governing body, the Presbytery of Texas.

ECO National Gathering

As a denomination, ECO Presbyterians offer an annual gathering designed to equip and strengthen the pastors, elders, lay leaders, students, staff teams, and covenant partners (members) of ECO.  Links to materials and presentations from recent Gatherings are available below.

2026 National Gathering: Called (Esther 4:14)

We were excited to participate in the 2026 ECO National Gathering in Atlanta, Georgia. During this conference, lay people and pastors from MDPC strengthened connections with MDPC Outreach partners, friends, colleagues, and most importantly, the God who called us to know and love Him, and to share Christ’s love with the world.
