Worship Volunteer Opportunities

Welcome Team (Ushers & Greeters)
Share the love of Christ through hospitality! Choose the Sundays you would like to serve. Greet 20 minutes before and after the service. On occasional Sundays, the Welcome Team also helps pass the offering plates and release rows for communion. Sign up directly at welcome.mdpc.org. For more info, contact Shana Parker:

Communion Servers
You're not required to be a member of MDPC to receive Communion. On Communion days, all who confess Jesus Christ as their Savior are welcome to take Communion. However, only MDPC Officers (current and former Elders and Deacons) may serve Communion. If you are not an MDPC Officer and are interested in serving Communion or just want more info, contact Tracy Curtis-Stidam:

Concert Ushers
Concert Usher duties are simple. Arrive 20 minutes early; greet guests and distribute concert programs; and pass the offering plates. Then, enjoy the rest of the concert. Concert Ushers receive reserved seating at all choir concerts.

Because we believe God speaks to each person individually, with a language unique to each, we offer several distinct styles of worship. Our aim at MDPC is to create worship environments where you can experience a transforming encounter with the Living God that sends you out whole, healthy, and fully alive.

Families and children are welcome in all services.

Childcare is available during the 8:30am worship service. All ages are invited to join us for Sunday School at 9:45am or 11:15am.

Hymns and modern worship led by the MDPC Worship Team.

Our Blended Service brings together the richness of traditional hymns and liturgy with modern worship music. Held in the Chapel, this smaller service offers a warm, welcoming setting for prayer, confession, Scripture, preaching, and congregational worship.

Our Contemporary Service features modern worship music alongside prayer, confession, Scripture, and relevant biblical teaching. Led by the MDPC Worship Team in the Sanctuary, this service creates space for meaningful, engaging worship through music and other creative elements.

Hymns and choral anthems led by the MDPC Sanctuary Choir and organ.

Our Traditional Service draws from the rich liturgical and musical traditions of the Church. Worship includes beloved hymns, choral anthems, prayer, confession, Scripture, and biblical preaching, with music led by the MDPC Sanctuary Choir and our Schantz pipe organ.

Fuente Service • 11:15a-12:30p

Spanish-language worship led by the MDPC Worship Team.

Fuente is MDPC’s Spanish-language worshiping community, gathering each Sunday in the Chapel for joyful, Christ-centered worship. The service includes modern worship music, prayer, Scripture, and biblical teaching in Spanish. Fellowship and community are important parts of Fuente, with opportunities to connect and grow together beyond Sunday worship.

BPC Service • 6:00-7:30p

Portuguese-language worship led by the BPC Worship Team.

BPC is MDPC’s Portuguese-language worshiping community, gathering Sunday evenings in the Chapel. The service includes worship music, prayer, Scripture, and biblical teaching in Portuguese, with an emphasis on Christian community and fellowship.

Communion

Communion

We believe that God is at work in and through the Sacrament of Communion. In Communion, also called the Lord’s Supper, we remember Jesus – His life, ministry, death, and resurrection – but Communion is not merely a remembrance. God is at work though Christ and by the power of the Spirit when practice this Sacrament. For key points about sacraments at MDPC, click here (PDF).

MDPC baptizes newborn to adult congregants. We believe God is at work in and through the Sacrament of Baptism. In Baptism, we celebrate God’s saving initiative that brings His people to faith in Jesus, but baptism is not merely a celebration. For more details, click on the Baptism at MDPC button above.

My Baptism Story: Kristin Malejan

Our journey to parenthood was a long and challenging path. Brian and I were married in 2011 and always knew that we wanted to have children. We thought this would be a simple and stress-free process, but after a year of trying we discovered that it was going to take much longer to grow our family. After much prayer and consideration, we began IVF in 2015. We were scared and anxious but knew that God was leading us and guiding us forward.

We entered [the IVF] process excited and thought we would soon have our child. Wrong again. Cycle after cycle, retrieval after retrieval, and transfer after transfer, we continued to have chemical pregnancies and miscarriages. The winter of 2017 was our lowest point; having lost our beloved pet and having a failed IVF cycle on the same day. It would have been easy for us to give up; we certainly asked God “why” many times.

Despite the tears, sadness, and exhaustion, we both knew that God had instilled the desire in our hearts to be parents. We knew without a doubt that he would fulfill his promise in his time. We prayed constantly and heard him telling us not to give up, and so, we did not give up. Through the support of family, friends, and the faith we had in God, we were joyful to share that we were pregnant with our first child in 2018 and our daughter, Elisabeth Faith Malejan, was born in October 2018. When we were ready to think about having a second child, we took time to pray and listen for God’s guidance. We were blessed by God with quick results and became pregnant with our son, Luke Michael Malejan, in 2021.

Looking back on this story, there were so many times we became mad, angry, upset, jealous of other couples and often asking, “Why us?” It is with absolute certainty that our faithfulness to God and his steadfast love brought us through this journey to the miracles of our children. Brian and I prayed often during our journey and committed to each other that if God carried us through this then we would do our very best to ensure  our children know how much they are loved by God and that they are true gifts from Heaven. We are grateful to stand here today and present our son, Luke, to be baptized because God has been faithful to us!

From the intricacy of The Art of the Fugue and the radiancy from the Goldberg Variations, Bach’s counterpoint unfolds across the ensemble. The night ends in a burst of youthful brilliance with Mendelssohn’s Octet, written at age sixteen and overflowing with virtuosity and soaring melodies.

MDPC CHRISTMAS CONCERT | "The Word and The Song: The Voices that Inspired Christmas"

MDPC Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra

Uniting the many voices that have proclaimed the good news—from Isaiah, Mary, the angels, and the shepherds, to the composers and hymn writers—this epic journey through the centuries brings a personal witness to the Nativity. The Christmas story is re-enacted in a dramatic six-act spectacle, powerfully weaving narration, choirs, congregation, and full orchestra with the grand masterworks of the season.

**MERCURY: Italian Baroque Christmas: A Luminous and Intimate Holiday Concert

Immerse yourself in the warmth and color of Italian Baroque concertos by Vivaldi, Locatelli, Torelli, and Corelli. These luminous works grew from a Roman Christmas tradition, where composers evoked the sound of shepherds’ pipes and rustic dances through lilting rhythms and glowing string textures. The result is joyful, elegant music filled with conversation between soloists and ensemble and ending in the gentle pastorale that became a sound of the season.

**MERCURY: Traditional Music from Québec: The Rhythm and the Dance of Québec

Travel north for an evening of vibrant traditional music from Québec, where the violin sits at the heart of community celebrations. Lively reels, jigs, and dance tunes pulse with energy and irresistible rhythm, shaped by French roots and Celtic influences. Guest violinist Alexis Chartrand leads the way through music full of the sparkle and spirit of a late-night kitchen party.

Triumph and Grace: A Universal Hallelujah for Beethoven's Bicentennial

MDPC Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra

Commemorating the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s monumental legacy, this rare and historic tribute celebrates his sacred masterworks. The program features the soaring Hallelujah Chorus from Christ on the Mount of Olives and culminates with the magnificent Choral Finale from his Ninth Symphony—the immortal Ode to Joy.

Houston Choral Society 40th CELEBRATION Concert

Sun, May 15, 2027 | Sanctuary | 6pm
Houston Choral Society 40th Anniversary Concert featuring the world premiere of an HCS-commissioned work by Dan Forrest, Mozart's Coronation Mass, and more!

Sanctuary Choir Concerts are FREE admission, with a free-will offering collected during the concert. Online giving is also available.

Children's Choir

Children ages 5-10 are welcome to join the Children's Choir! In a fun and encouraging Christian environment, children will learn music, grow in their faith, and share the joy of singing with others.  MDPC membership is not required.  All are welcome!

We are excited to be led by our Children's Choir Directors, Riley Vagis and Bethany Uribe, who are passionate about helping children develop their musical gifts while building friendships and faith.  The choir participates in worship and special events throughout the year, including the Christmas Family Service, the Choir Christmas Concert, and Christmas caroling.
