The Nominating Committee invites your help in identifying members whose gifts and hearts for Christ may be calling them into leadership at MDPC. As you pray, who comes to mind as a future Elder or Deacon?

What is an Elder?

Together with the Pastors, Elders exercise leadership, governance, and discipline, and have responsibilities for the life of our congregation.

What is a Deacon?

Following the example of Acts 6:1-7, Deacons are uniquely gifted to serve the church by providing ministries of compassion, care-giving, and mercy.

What do Officers do?

Through Session or Deacon Board, committees, and ministry leadership, Officers help nurture faith, support the mission of MDPC, and care for our congregation.

Who may be nominated?

Nominees should possess a:

  • personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord;
  • commitment to a lifestyle of Christian faithfulness as outlined in scripture and in our ECO Constitution;
  • personal and spiritual maturity, integrity, and character;
  • willingness to receive, adopt and be bound by the Essential Tenets of ECO;
  • minimum of one year as an active MDPC member with a history of regular worship service attendance and an identifiable pattern of financial stewardship;
  • willingness to fulfill the duties of the office to which he/she will be elected, which includes Session or Deacon Board attendance, serving Communion, and investing in the ministry area to which he/she has been called;
  • successful completion of a background check.
Are self-nominations allowed?

Yes, you may self-nominate.

Important dates and process:
  • Nominated individuals will be presented for pastoral review for any confidential information that might preclude them from serving at this time.
  • Nominations are due by Aug 25, 2026.
  • The Nominating Committee will prayerfully review all submissions and contact prospective nominees.
  • The congregation will elect the next class of Elders and Deacons at a Congregational Meeting in October.
